Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker and syndicated columnist. She is also an TV personality, author and author. The Corcoran Group, an NYC real estate brokerage, was founded by Corcoran. NRT bought it in 2001 for $66 million. Corcoran later left the company. Corcoran was among the first Shark Tank investors. She has appeared on every season of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts until February, 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran is the second of 10 children from a working-class Irish-Catholic family, was born in Edgewater in New Jersey. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father during Corcoran’s childhood. The family relied on the food provided by the local grocer who would deliver free food. Corcoran remembers her fatheras who was a drunk at times too much, and behaved towards her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, especially after he'd had a few drinks. Corcoran struggled with her education and was diagnosed with dyslexia. Corcoran entered in high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood after attending an Catholic elementary school. Corcoran dropped a few classes during her first year, and then transferred to Leonia High School where she was an A student.
